Obituary for Lucy Yocum

Lucy Yocum, 88, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Walnut Park Baptist Church. Pastor Dennis Hakes and Pastor Mark Konrad will officiate. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Walnut Park Baptist Church. Visitation for Lucy will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to Walnut Park Baptist Church in memory of Lucy. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Verna Lucille Dobson was born on October 5, 1922 in Baker County, Florida the daughter of J. Louis and Cora (Andrews) Dobson. On August 29, 1942, Lucy was united in marriage to Lawrence D. Yocum in Huntsville, Alabama. Lucy was a homemaker and seamstress and also worked as a bank teller and bookkeeper. She was a member of the Walnut Park Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Lucy will be deeply missed by her children, Wayne Yocum and his wife, Judy of Noblesville, Indiana, Phil Yocum and his wife, Tina of Taft, California and DeeAnn Konrad and her husband, Mark of Tigard, Oregon; 15 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry in 1992, one granddaughter, Serena Yocum Coon and three brothers, Louis, Odell and Curtis Dobson.
