Obituary for Mary Stunder Foster

Mary Stunder Foster, age 93, of Erie and formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Erie on August 27, 1918, a daughter of the late Michael and Sophia Mikulitch Stunder.

Mary graduated from East High School in 1934 and Hamot School of Nursing in 1937.

She was a nurse at Hamot Medical Center, West Penn Hospital and Baptist Nursing Home in Pittsburgh, and retired as the Director of Nursing in 1980.
She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, and attended Wayne Park Baptist Church with her family in Erie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: George Stunder, William "Mickey" Stunder and John Stunder, and two sisters: Nadia Stunder and Catherine Frost.

Survivors include her husband William L. Foster, Jr.; a son William L. Foster, III and his wife Jan of Anita, PA; three grandchildren: William Michael Foster of San Diego, CA; David L. Foster of Anita, PA and Justine Foster of Anita, PA ; a sister Vera Stunder of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, 602 West 10th Street on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a service there on Wednesday at 11am with Rev. Robert Guldenschuh officiating. Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
